LINX-NoVA - LINX North Virginia
» IXPs » LINX-NoVA
Location: Washington D.C., North Virginia, USA
Following discussions with the US network community, and its own members, LINX has launched an open peering exchange in North America known as LINX NoVA. We believe that the LINX mutual model for IXPs is the best for the good of the Internet. Supported by our members, the LINX NoVA exchange echoes the aims of the North American community as represented by the Open-IX initiative
OIXA certified logoThe exchange has been designed to conform to Open-IX standards, using systems and processes that have proved successful in Europe and the wider world for nearly 20 years, and LINX has just received Open-IX certification.
Locations and Infrastructure
Based in the North Virginia/Washington DC area, LINX NoVA currently spans three data centres:
- CoreSite in Reston
- DuPont Fabros Technology in Ashburn
- EvoSwitch in Manassas
These sites are connected by LINX, so that the peering mesh spans all three. Members can therefore connect anywhere they wish, and see peering partners at all LINX NoVA locations.
The LINX NoVA exchange uses MX960 router equipment from Juniper Networks capable of delivering 100G member ports. All NoVA locations are connected by diverse dark fibre lit by LINX.
LINX NoVA is based on the same architecture as the LINX primary LAN in London (VPLS) but it is important to note that it is not connected back to the peering LANs operated by LINX in the UK. A connection service to the LINX peering LANs in the UK is available from LINX ConneXions partners.
The internet exchange point LINX-NoVA is available in the following data center(s):
